Frequently Asked Questions How do I enrol? Go to 'Enrolment Link' and print off form. Send with a cheque to address as listed on the bottom of the form. Each course has the price listed. For the main index of courses, go to the 'Courses' link.
Who do I make the cheque payable to? Please make the cheque payable to 'RBWM'. This is a shortening of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and 'RBWM' is a simpler abbreviation.
How do I know if the course is full? The website is updated regularly and would say beside the course title if all the places have been taken. Assume that there are places unless specified.
Do I need to provisionally book? You only need to provisionally book if you wish to enrol on a course that either says it only has a few places left or if it is up to a week before the course starts. Otherwise just complete enrolment form and send with cheque. Provisional bookings' phone calls left on the answer phone will not be returned unless the course is full.
How quickly do courses fill up? It depends on the course, but the majority don't fill up until up to two weeks before the start of term. The most likely to be full as soon as the prospectuses go out, would be the 'Intermediate Art' so book early if you would like to enrol on this course. Other courses like the 'Learn how to use a computer', Photography and ' 'Indian Cookery' are also very popular.
How do I find my course when I get to Charters School? If you don't know where to go when you reach the school, please take a seat in the main school reception area and either the adult education co-ordinator or caretaker will take you to where you have to go.
How many courses do you run each year? We have 3 terms, which are slightly shorter than the school academic year. Terms are usually run for about 10 - 11 weeks. The majority of our courses repeat, but language courses will progress on to a higher level each term.
If I start on a course and I am the wrong level, can I change to a different class of perhaps a higher or lower level? Yes, if after the first session you feel you are in the wrong ability class, please contact the adult education co-ordinator who will discuss whether it is possible to change you across to a class better suited to your needs. Providing there are places in the other course, this shouldn't be a problem.
I am on a course that has finished before the end of the term or I am unable to make the last session, how will I get a new prospectus? If you have enrolled on any course or workshop, your details are automatically added onto our mailing list. Prospectuses are posted out the week following the last week of term. Students, whose courses last the entire term, will be handed a prospectus by the adult education co-ordinator on the last session.
What happens to the enrolment forms, after enrolment? Details of what happens to your forms are in our Data Protection statement. This can be found on the enrolment form and you are given the option within the statement to exclude yourself for certain circumstances.
Why don't you run sports' courses? The Charters Leisure Centre is a separate company and based at the school. They offer a wide variety of sports courses for all ages. For more information on what they offer, their phone number is 01344 628686 (after 4pm)
My child wants to register for Charters School, are you part of the school? No, the adult education co-ordinator organises the adult education on behalf of the school and is not based at the school. For information on the school, please go to the links page and click on the Charters school website.
